Painting with light is a fun and creative photographic technique  where the artist opens the shutter of a camera for an extended period of time and uses various light sources to create color and design within the frame. Photo editing is not required. All light painting images are created in real time and captured in the camera in a single photographic frame.

In this interactive, three-week class you will learn various light painting techniques, then plan and execute your concepts. Manual camera with bulb setting, tripod, cable release and participation in all three sessions are required to maximize the learning experience.

The class will be held indoors at Studio 67 Medford, 67 N. Main Street, Medford, NJ 08055 on the 2nd floor. There is no elevator.

Synopsis

Class 1

We will work on the technical aspects of painting with light. Learn how to use different tools, techniques and the settings required to make the image.

Class 2

Planning what you are going to create is imperative to a successful shoot. The class will be broken down into groups where you will work as a team to plan your image. You will have time to experiment with various ideas before you do your final shoot.

Class 3 

In this class you will execute your plans and create a painting with light masterpiece! Each group will be given a limited amount of time to execute their image(s) and at the end of class we will review the final work.
